I typically do a meet and greet in person so we can get to know one another a bit better but when distance (and a pandemic) is a factor, let’s facetime or zoom instead! This is an opportunity for you to learn more about virtual doula services and I can get a feel for the type of support you are looking for to see if it’s the right fit.
In a prenatal appointment, we go over a birth preference plan, which gives you the time to meditate on the scope of choices that may arise during birth – in the comfort and peace of your own home versus in the heat of the moment. We can also practice birth postures and discuss any questions, concerns, or exciting thoughts you may have.
I typically like to check in on clients a few days after birth and when they have returned home to see how they’re feeling and discuss their birth experience, while also giving them the opportunity to rest while I care for the new little one and set their home up for success in the coming weeks. What I have found is most appreciated in this time is the non-judgemental ear and “girl time”, if you will. We all crave community and the feeling of mom-isolation is something I try to help my clients avoid – and right now, more than ever, we need to discover new ways of connecting and empowering in the postpartum phase. A virtual postpartum session can be completely personalized and we can discuss your birth, newborn care, nutrition support, nursing, home design + routine planning, registry curation, and anything else that comes to mind.
