Skip Maternity Wear and Find a Forever Piece
Maternity wear can be such a conundrum. Who wants to spend oodles on pieces you will only wear for a few months? No one, that’s who. I love to and will always love dressing like I could possibly be pregnant. Put me in a good muumuu – YES GIRL. Do you need me to wear that caftan for you? PLEASE. Pieces like this actually make me feel really good. They’re easy to wear and can easily present as though you have put in some effort. And, lucky for you and me, they’re in style right now!
Here are five of my favorite pieces at the moment that can be purchased and utilized for wear before, during, and after pregnancy. They are of varying price points and styles so you can choose what works best for you. Also notice, each can be easily dropped down for nursing postpartum if you are doing so. They also all have a flowing midsection to accommodate a growing babe! Throw them on with a sandal, sneaker or even a heel with some earrings and voila! You are looking fine in all stages of motherhood. Get it girl.
Dresses to Wear Before, During, and After Pregnancy
R.Vivimos
off-shoulder boho midi dress $26
I love this dress not only for its friendly price point, but its classic black and white gingham print and feminine, easy-to-wear design. The sleeve allows for a sultry off-the-shoulder look or you can wear a nursing bra with the sleeves over your shoulders if you are breastfeeding or looking for more coverage. The elasticated smocking gives just the right amount of structure and the tiered midi skirt allows for a cheeky burger…or a growing bébé!
English Factory
Floral ruffle sleeve maxi dress $77
This dress exemplifies effortless beauty. You can throw this on with wet hair and flip flops and turn heads. (Not that we’re in the business of turning heads but trust me, this is a stunner.) The subtle shoulder ruffle makes it a bit sweet and feminine and there is also elastic in the neckline to accommodate a pregnant or nursing mother. This dress has a tiered maxi skirt which is forgiving when your body is all your own and accommodating when you are sharing space with another little being. It comes at an attainable price point and in the print shown here as well as blue, green, and bubblegum pink(which I own and love!)
Sleeper
loungewear dress $250
I love the old-world charm, yet street-chic flexibility of this dress. Not to mention, the buttons on this dress make breastfeeding a breeze. It can be worn as shown throughout pregnancy and looks adorable with a bump and sneakers. And, before or after pregnancy it can be worn with a dark belt and heel, one shoulder down, and a button (or three) left open at the bottom. Look at you elevating loungewear, you gorgeous creature!
Tory Burch
PRINTED TIE-SHOULDER DRESS $339
This dress feels like a piece that you can keep for a long time. The pattern and fabric feel elevated and can be worn in the summer or fall with a sweater or jacket. The ties at the shoulders make it easy to pull down for nursing and the tiered maxi skirt looks great throughout pregnancy. I look to this dress when I need a staple piece that will still make a statement. You can wear this with a sandal, sneaker, or even a boot if you’re feeling fancy!
Ulla Johnson
hope sleeveless midi dress $395
I find this dress so multi-dimensional. Can you imagine how stunning it would look presenting a growing baby belly? But also so polished before or after pregnancy! The top fabric and bows allow for nursing and pregnancy space. Pair this with fancy heels and jewelry or a jean jacket and sneakers and you’ve got yourself a lewk, girlfriend!
Much Love,
